  12/13/2020 - An Independent Voice For far too long, a truly nonpartisan voice has found itself cast aside from the increasingly polarized politics of today. We've found ourselves separated, pressured to 'pick a side' in how we cast our vote, in whom we follow, and what ideals we align ourselves with. This bears the question, what truly is an independent? Is it simply someone who finds themselves in dissonance with that of two opposing parties, or is it those who feel they can make informed decisions without placing a label unto themselves? From our personal experience the definition of an independent  is one  who chooses to listen to both sides, agree with elements of both, and makes informed decisions using the nonpartisan elements of fact and science. Currently, it is estimated that roughly 38% of registered voters are independent in party affiliation.  OUR MISSION STATEMENT The Independence Project was founded on the ideals of providing an education into the workings of American government through a non-partisan point of view.    For far too long, our views of government have been construed by those we voted for in the last election or who we support as a party or candidate in the future. It has spawned vitriol that has only sought to encumber the workings of a functioning government that was designed to serve the people whom appoint, fund, and create it. This vicious cycle is untenable, and the misinformation it provides pulls us apart while ruining our efficiency. That's where we come in. It is beyond the time to elevate independent voices to advocate and educate for/to others regarding our systems of government. The freedom of our independence in which is ground upon the starting three words of the declaration of independence, " We the People ."
